It’s been a while since we last posted and a lot has happened. We’re now living in the house – we’ve been here for about a week and a half now and are loving it. There’s still soooo much to do though!
Here’s what has been done in the last few weeks:
Outside:
- Planted flowers and vegetables
- put in two new flower beds
- pulled lots of weeds
Basement:
- Removed over 300 feet of old galvanized plumbing
- Installed over 300 feet of new copper plumbing
- Ran new gas line to kitchen for stove
- Discovered a secret room (more about that another time)
Kitchen:
- Connected the new gas line to the stove
- Painted one set of cabinets to see how they’ll look
Dining Room:
- Took down the ugly light
- Painted ceiling and walls and crown molding
- Removed all the oak trim from around the windows, planed and sanded it down
- Installed a new digital, programmable thermostat
Family/Living Room:
- Painted ceiling, walls, crown molding
Front Entryway:
- Painted ceiling, walls, crown molding
- Bought a new (old) front door (more details later)
Master Bedroom:
- Painted walls, trim
- Installed new electrical for light/fan
- Installed wide wood blinds
Bathroom:
This is where a lot of time has been spent and a lot more will be spent here (working) in the next couple weeks.
- Everything removed
- Recessed lights installed (3 of them)
- Exhaust fan installed and vented outside
- New electrical installed – 4 outlets, 3 switches
- Subfloor screwed to joists to reduce squeaking
- Durock concrete board installed on floor
- Drywall installed on upper half of walls and ceiling
- Plywood installed on lower half of walls
- Beadboard wainscoting put up – the real thing, not the plywood sheets
- Radiant heating installed in the floor
- 3/4 of floor tiling complete
- Toilet installed – temporarily
- Plumbing for sink installed (it’s a wall faucet)
Hallway:
- New light installed (including new electrical)
- Walls painted
Guest Bedroom:
- Walls painted
- Ceiling fan installed
- New electrical installed
That’s all I can think of right now. We’ll try and take some more pictures soon.
Shawn, I love the pictures of the house. It is so suburbia, almost as bad as the one I live in. You definitely get points for the age and uniqness (sp?) of it. Buenas noches, mi amigo!
